Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or date of birth typed into one of the search boxes on this site goes directly to the outside provider that runs that search. The provider processes the query and returns results to your screen. We do not keep a copy of what you typed.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you write to us, we hold the message so we can answer it. It stays with our team, and we do not pass it to anyone outside the organization unless the law requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each page load sends our servers a small set of technical details about the visit:
- The IP address your device is using
- The browser you use and its version number
- Your device type and operating system
- Which pages you opened and how long each one stayed on screen
- The site that referred you here, when there was one
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on your device, and we use them to see how the site is used, including which pages draw the most visits and where readers stop. Analytics services pull that activity into aggregate reports. You can block cookies in your browser settings at any time, though a few parts of the site may then behave differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Keep the site online, available, and loading at a reasonable speed
- Route a search you run to the partner service that handles it
- See which pages readers find useful and which ones need work
- Find and repair technical problems
- Serve advertising that may relate to your interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, build, sell, or maintain any database of warrants or personal case information. It publishes general guidance about where Wicomico County warrant records are kept and how to check them through the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, the District Court of Maryland for Wicomico County, and the sheriff's Civil Process Division. Maryland has no public statewide warrant lookup, and this site does not pretend to be one. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing collected about visitors is assembled into reports about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes here are supplied by outside companies. Whatever you enter into one of them is handled under that company's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide how long they keep data and who else sees it, and we have no control over either choice. Read the partner's policy before you submit a search.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link out to court portals, sheriff and county pages, the Maryland Public Information Act request route, and third-party tools. Following one of those links takes you away from this site, and the destination's privacy policy then applies to your visit. Check it before you share personal details anywhere.
Some advertising partners track activity across websites in order to target ads. That tracking happens on their systems.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Some data can reach:
- Search partners that process queries entered on this site
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- Advertising networks that place ads on these pages
- A court or government office when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We use standard security practices to protect what the site collects. No internet service can promise perfect safety, and we cannot guarantee that a security incident will never occur. What we can do is limit how much is gathered in the first place and keep it inside our own systems.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent data to us, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Maryland law and federal law may give you rights over personal information, and requests for records held by a government office in this state are governed by the Maryland Public Information Act, General Provisions Article section 4-101 and section 4-201. Regarding this site, you can:
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
A request for a Wicomico County court or sheriff record goes to that office, not to us.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change. When it does, the revised version appears on this page with a new effective date, and that date controls going forward. Check back if you want to follow how information is handled.
